First haircut

So I've been putting it off and putting it off but I finally came to the conclusion that Alex really needed a haircut (could it be because a lot of people were calling him a girl....) I took him to Cookie Cutters and he did really well with it. Even with all the hormones going through my body after just having a baby I managed to hold back the tears. After all said and done he still has his curls!!!!

Waiting patiently (well, not really)

Gotta give them snacks to keep them occupied.

It's a girl!

At 1:33 am on March 17th we welcomed our daughter, Erin Michelle, into the world! She weighed 7.6 oz and was 19 3/4 inches long.

Here is the story of her birth:

On Monday morning I woke up early having to use the bathroom (shocking) and couldn't fall back asleep due to having so much on my mind anticipating when our baby would arrive. I got up and did some stuff around the house and noticed that some contractions had started. They weren't painful but just there. I went to bed about an hour later and woke up for the day still having contractions ("Is this false labor" I thought?) I went to work and was able to work my normal day with the contractions coming and going. We went to see our MW that afternoon (hoping that this would be our last appt. before the baby comes). I told her about the contractions and she predicted that I would have the baby the Tues night/Wed morning. I noticed throughout the day that the contractions were getting closer together but not any more intense. We decided to take Alex to my parents for the night "just in case."

I woke up Tuesday morning disappointed, the contractions were gone. I figured I had been having false labor and that I must have psyched myself out. We picked Alex and decided to run errands to hopefully get the contractions started again (which they did). By the time the afternoon was done and I had been walking everywhere, we again decided to take Alex to my parents, "just in case".

We went to bed around 10 and at this time, my back was uncomfortable but the contractions hadn't intensified or gotten closer together. I woke up at 11:30 to use the bathroom and WOAH did the contractions hit me (I had two just sitting on the toilet)! They were so intense and on top of each other that I told John I wanted to drive to the Community North (because it was closer even though we were delivering at Methodist), I didn't want to call our Midwife or Sarah, our labor support, and that I wanted drugs. Like a good husband, he didn't listen to me and we headed to Methodist. After a hectic time getting into the hospital we finally made it to triage. I immediately asked for drugs. The very nice nurse explained to me that there were some hoops we had to jump through before that could happen. At this point Sarah showed up and everything calmed down, what a difference she made. I was at this point checked and FULLY DILATED (no wonder I asked for drugs, I must have been in transition)! I was gonna get my VBAC! I was taken to the delivery room and had the urge to push and our MW still wasn't there. Uh oh, I may be delivering our baby without our MW or even an on-call OB. I overheard Sarah say our MW was in the elevator and I knew I could wait. In walked our MW, I immediately pushed which broke my water, pushed through 2 more contractions and our baby was here! A little girl. What a beautiful, beautiful thing I just went through. I had arrived at the hospital around 1 and delivered her at 1:33 am. I remember saying right after she came, "did I just do that, am I dreaming?" I got the natrual, drug free VBAC I wanted!!!!

Soon to be a family of 4

Since I am almost positive that this will be the last post before we become a family of 4, I have the urge to relfect on the past 2 years when we went from just John and myself to being parents.

There was once a time that Alex was this little. What a doll!

Since John and I spent the first 3+ months of Alex's life listening to him cry I figured it would only be appropriate if I put this photo in.

He finally started getting chubby cheeks (and flashing his aborable smile).

This is when I remembered thinking that he was turning into such a big boy.

Yes, humilating I know but I couldn't resist putting him in the outfit Grandma got him.

Alex's first trip to the beach.

Those eyes and lips get me every time.

Happy 1st Birthday Alex!

Give me more food Momma!

Excited to be a big brother.

Chuck E Cheese

Alex had is 1st Chuck E Cheese experience over the weekend for his friend Taylor's 4th birthday. He wasn't as scared by the "puppets" (or is it puppets) as I was expected and he definitely had a case of sensory overload by the end of the party.

He wasn't too sure about Chuck E Cheese at first...

An hour later he couldn't get enough.

Little guy

I'm not sure if my belly or Alex's head is bigger.

Surprise!

Alex and Graham are always so good when they get together. I think it's mainly because they are just so stinking cute and know it!

Cutest Colts fan

Even though Alex wasn't awake for all of the Colts game (last week) his Daddy made sure he was decked out in the right gear.
